KGI Life has won Social Impact Initiative of the Year at the 2026 Insurance Asia Awards, organized by the Charlton Media Group. The award recognized the Company’s group insurance program for volunteers aiding Guangfu Township in Hualien, the first of its kind in Taiwan, together with premium donations, policyholder care, and other post-disaster resilience measures.
When Typhoon Ragasa devastated parts of Taiwan in 2025, volunteers from across the country moved into the disaster zone to help clear homes, but the environment carried unknown risks and the volunteers lacked adequate coverage. Responding to requests from regulators and the public, KGI Life developed the volunteer group insurance program within 48 hours, providing accidental death and disability coverage so that volunteers could contribute with peace of mind.
The program set a precedent for rapid public-private coordination between a life insurer and central government agencies on a single sudden disaster, and established a model for industry participation in disaster response. It earned KGI Life a Special Contribution Award from the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) and a letter of appreciation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, making the Company the only life insurer recognized by both agencies.
KGI Life donated the full premium proceeds to the Ministry of Health and Welfare to support reconstruction, turning insurance from a mechanism for risk diversification into a source of recovery funding. The Company also formed an emergency response task force offering fast-track claims, premium deferral, and advance hospitalization payments to help affected policyholders maintain liquidity, and drew on group resources to widen the relief effort.
Upholding its “We Share We Link” philosophy, KGI Life will continue applying its four strategic pillars of digital, innovation, sustainability, and finance so that insurance serves not only as compensation but as a lasting force for connecting social resources and strengthening resilience.
