KGI Life Launches Food-Waste Circularity Initiative

4/21/2026

In celebration of Earth Day, KGI Life turned its pledge into tangible actions for the environment and society. Partnering with suppliers, KGI Life launched the financial industry’s first food-waste circularity initiative, transforming cafeteria food waste into organic agricultural resources and creating an innovative circular economy model and supporting SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13 Climate Action.

Since launching the project in March 2024, KGI Life processed a total of 7,813 kilograms of cafeteria food waste by the end of last year, producing more than 1,328 kilograms of insect-based organic fertilizer. Compared with conventional incineration, black soldier fly larvae can convert food waste more efficiently and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

KGI Life has further extended this model by providing the organic fertilizer to contracted farmers and prioritizing the purchase of harvested produce for its employee cafeteria. This closed-loop approach reduced waste and carbon emissions while generating broader social value by supporting eco-friendly agriculture, improving crop quality, enhancing ingredient traceability, and fostering sustainable partnerships.

KGI Life continues to deepen its ESG commitments. Moving forward, KGI Life will continue advancing its four strategic pillars—"Digital, Innovation, Sustainability, and Finance”—and take steady steps toward a net zero future.
