KGI Life has activated five customer relief measures ahead of severe Typhoon Bavi, whose strong gusts and torrential rain are expected to affect Taiwan. The Company is reaching out to policyholders in affected areas to assess damage and provide assistance, and has introduced fast-track claims, advance hospitalization payments, premium payment deferral, policy service concessions, and flexible travel insurance adjustments.
Policyholders hospitalized for injuries sustained in the storm, or who die as a result of it, will have claims fast-tracked once the insured event is confirmed, with supporting documents accepted after payment is made. Policyholders who are hospitalized and meet the relevant criteria may apply for an advance hospitalization payment covering up to 10 days, capped at NT$60,000.
The measures apply to policyholders in areas where local governments have announced the suspension of work and classes, or who can produce disaster certification from a public agency such as a village or borough chief. For premium deferral, renewal premiums falling due within the next three months may be extended by three months from the original due date. Under the policy service concessions, policy loans applied for or added within the coming year carry a six-month interest deferral, and policyholders whose policy documents were lost or damaged in the storm may apply for free reissue within three months.
For travel insurance, policyholders whose trips were postponed or canceled because of the typhoon may apply within one week to cancel or postpone coverage. Details are available from agents, the customer service hotline at 0800-098-889, and customer service centers nationwide.
KGI Life urged the public to monitor typhoon updates and prepare accordingly: clearing neighborhood drains, securing hanging objects, doors, and windows, and stocking emergency supplies. Residents of low-lying or landslide-prone areas should move to safety in advance and avoid hiking, river tracing, wave watching, swimming, and fishing during the storm.
