KGIL Certified for 1.5°C Again

6/17/2026

For the third year running, KGI Life Insurance has been certified as aligned with the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C temperature target by CommonWealth Magazine's corporate carbon-reduction platform, placing it in first place among Taiwan’s life insurance companies for three years in a row. The Company also took home the Sustainable Development Award at the 2026 Financial Services Excellence Awards for weaving together low-carbon transition, inclusive finance, and the circular economy across its sustainability value chain.

The Company treats net zero as a core corporate strategy. Its Board of Directors serves as the highest climate governance body, and low-carbon transition results are linked to the President's performance evaluation. In support of Taiwan's 2050 net-zero policy, KGI Life and its parent company, KGI Financial Holdings, jointly set science-based targets under the SBTi framework, validated in 2025 for both the investment portfolio and the Company's own operations. KGI Life has committed to net-zero operations by 2040 and a net-zero asset portfolio by 2045.

KGI Life uses green finance to guide capital, turning climate risk into long-term investment resilience. Through rigorous pre-investment screening and an internal carbon pricing mechanism, the Company reduces its exposure to high-carbon industries and directs capital toward businesses driving low-carbon transition; its green and sustainable investments surpassed NT$44.85 billion in 2025. Within its own operations, carbon emissions fell 10.2 percent from the previous year, and the headquarters building was among the first to complete ISO 14068-1 carbon neutrality verification. The Company also pioneered a black soldier fly program that turns cafeteria food waste into organic fertilizer for farmers, whose organic vegetables the cafeteria buys back, while paperless services give it the industry's lowest carbon footprint for policy services.

KGI Life will continue to advance responsible finance and low-carbon operations, creating long-term value for the environment, society, and its stakeholders.
