Protection for the Financially Disadvantaged

Dec 7, 2023

Finance sector has undergone rapid development. Nowadays, people can choose from an array of financial products and services. However, people with insufficient financial literacy are a mid- to high-risk group for financial disputes, for instance, consumption and exploitation cases. China Life works with the Community Development Association and welfare organizations from six municipalities to provide education on financial and anti-fraud knowledge. The goal is to build a safety net for the financially disadvantaged.

China Life has taken concrete actions to respond to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations. In alignment with “SDG 4: Quality Education” and “SDG 10: Reduce Inequality” as well as “2023 Financial Inclusion Indicator” established by the FSC, the Company has dedicated its resources to financial education and microinsurance promotion. Based on these two themes, 23 seminars have been held for six financially disadvantaged groups, senior citizens, new residents, indigenous people, the young, the physically challenged, and the economically challenged. As of Oct. 2023, 100,000 eligible people have received microinsurance coverage donated by the Company.

In the future, China Life will continue to implement Treating Customers Fairly principles, actively promote financial knowledge on insurance, and provide microinsurance products. Taking concrete actions is our way of showing care for the disadvantaged groups across Taiwan. The goal is to make Taiwan a more inclusive and cohesive society that has room for common prosperity. This is the sustainable vision we are working toward.
